The women's 400-meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 2002 was held on August 7th and 8th, 2002 in the Munich Olympic Stadium.
The European champion was the Russian Olesja Sykina . Second place finished the German European champion of 1990 / 1998 and Vice World Champion 1991 Grit Breuer . Bronze went to the Briton Lee McConnell .

The preliminary round was carried out in three runs. The first two athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the two fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the final. The semi-finals could be omitted with only 21 participants.
