The heptathlon for women in the 2002 European Athletics Championships was on 9 and 10 August 2002 at the Munich Olympic Stadium held.

The Swedish Carolina Klüft became the European champion . Second place finished the German Olympic bronze medalist from 1992 , double world champion ( 1991 / 1997 ) and two-time European champion ( 1990 / 1994 ) Sabine Braun . Like four years ago, bronze went to the Belarusian Olympic third party from 2000 and Vice World Champion from 2001 Natallja Sasanowitsch .

The seven disciplines of the heptathlon took place over two days.
Day 1 - August 9: 100-meter hurdles , high jump , shot put , 200-meter run
Day 2 - August 10: long jump , javelin , 800-meter run

The rating was based on the 1985 point table, which is still valid today.
