Remigija Nazarovienė

Remigija Nazarovienė (born Sablovskaitė , * 2. June 1967 in Ashgabat , Turkmen SSR ) is a former Lithuanian athlete , referring to the heptathlon had specialized.

Life

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 she finished fifth in the heptathlon for the Soviet Union under her maiden name Sablovskaitė. In the same year she became a Soviet champion.

Since Lithuania's independence in 1990, she has been one of the country's outstanding athletes for over a decade. In total she was Lithuanian champion nine times. In addition to three titles in heptathlon (1990, 1992, 2002), she was also successful in the individual disciplines long jump (1995, 1997), 100-meter hurdles (1995, 1998), shot put (1996) and high jump (1997). She also holds the national records in the heptathlon and the 100-meter hurdles.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona Nazarovienė finished fourteenth in the heptathlon and at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994 seventh place in the heptathlon. In 1996 she was tenth at the Atlanta Olympics . She celebrated the greatest success of her career a year later at the World Athletics Championships in Athens in 1997 . With 6566 points she won the bronze medal in the heptathlon behind Sabine Braun (6739 points) and Denise Lewis (6654 points). She also won this season and the following at the Décastar in Talence.

At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998 , Nazarovienė narrowly missed a medal in the heptathlon as fourth with only 16 points behind bronze. At the end of the season, however, she finished third in the IAAF World Combined Events Challenge . In 1999 she was fourth again at the World Athletics Championships in Maebashi and reached eighth place at the World Athletics Championships in Seville .

Remigija Nazarovienė is 1.80 m and weighed 70 kg at competition times. She was married to the Estonian decathlete Andrei Nazarov . After the end of her active career, she took up a coaching position at the Estonian Athletics Federation. Mikk Pahapill and Kaie Kand are among her protégés .
