Mikk Pahapill (born July 18, 1983 in Kingissepa , Estonian SSR , USSR ) is an Estonian athlete .

Athletic career

Pahapill started at the Junior World Championships 2002 in Kingston for the first time in international championships. With 7142 points, he finished eleventh in the decathlon . In 2005 he won the European Cup meeting in Bydgoszcz and exceeded the 8000 point mark for the first time with 8149 points. He confirmed this performance with 8003 points and twelfth place at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki . He started at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg , but had to end the competition early due to injury. With a win and 8117 points at the meeting in Rakvere , he qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , where he was able to increase his personal record to 8178 points and finished eleventh. Half a year later at the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 , Pahapill was able to set a new personal best in all seven disciplines of the heptathlon and won confidently in front of Oleksij Kasjanow and Roman Šebrle . With 6362 points, he not only improved his personal best by 400 points, but also missed Erki Nool's 1999 Estonian record by just twelve points. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Pahapill ended the decathlon competition after three invalid attempts in the long jump.
