Eelco Sintnicolaas
Eelco Sintnicolaas (born April 7, 1987 in Dordrecht ) is a Dutch decathlete .
In 2008 and 2010 he was national heptathlon indoor champion. His first result in the decathlon was a score of 8,052 in 2009 at the Götzis all- around meeting . In 2009 he became the U23 European champion. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin , he injured himself in the high jump and had to give up.
At the European Athletics Championships 2010 in Barcelona he won the silver medal and improved his personal record from 8159 points (placed fifth at the all- around meeting Götzis 2010) to 8436 points. The following year he achieved a Dutch heptathlon record at the European Indoor Championships in Paris with 6175 points. In fourth place, he only missed a medal by three points. In 2012 he achieved second place at the Götzis meeting with a personal best of 8506 points. At the Olympic Games in London he was eleventh.
In March 2013 he won the gold medal in the heptathlon at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden .
In 2007, 2008 and 2009 he was the Dutch indoor champion in the long jump .
Eelco Sintnicolaas is 1.86 m tall and weighs 80 kg. He studies economics at the Randstad Topsport Academie in Deventer and starts for the association AV'34 Apeldoorn.
