The men's 800-meter run at the 2002 European Athletics Championships was held from August 9th to 11th, 2002 in Munich's Olympic Stadium.
European champion was the three-time world champion ( 1995 / 1997 / 1999 ), Olympic silver medalist from 2000 and world record holder Wilson Kipketer from Denmark. The reigning world champion André Bucher from Switzerland came in second . Bronze went to the German Olympic champion of 2000 and defending champion Nils Schumann .
