Antonio Manuel Reina

Antonio Manuel Reina ( Antonio Manuel Reina Ballesteros; born June 13, 1981 in Osuna , Seville province ) is a Spanish middle-distance runner and sprinter .

At the Athletics Junior World Championships in Santiago in 2000 , he won bronze over 800 m .

The following year he won this distance at the European Athletics U23 Championships in 2001 in Amsterdam. At the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton , he was eliminated over 800 m in the preliminary run and was sixth in the 4-by-400-meter relay .

In 2002 he won bronze over 800 m at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Vienna , reached the semi- finals at the European Athletics Championships in Munich and won the World Cup in Athletics in Madrid .

In 2003 he was over 800 m fourth at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham . At the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis he reached the semi-finals over 800 m and was fifth in the Spanish 4 x 400 meter relay.

In the following year, a semi-finals over 800 m at the Indoor World Championships 2004 in Budapest was followed by a victory in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Ibero-American Championships. At the Olympic Games in Athens he was eliminated from over 800 in the semifinals and in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run.

In 2005 he won over 800 m silver at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid and won the Mediterranean Games over 800 m and in the 4-by-400-meter relay. At the World Championships in Helsinki he was eliminated from over 800 in the semifinals and in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run, and at the World Athletics Finals he was seventh in the 800 m.

At the World Championships in Osaka he did not get past the first lap over 800 m. In 2008 he failed at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia with the Spanish 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run and reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Beijing over 800 m.

At the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 , he did not reach the finish line over 400 m . In 2010 he won bronze over 800 m at the Ibero-American Championships and retired from the European Championships in Barcelona with the Spanish 4 x 400 meter relay in the first round. At the 2011 World Cup in Daegu, he reached the semi-finals over 800 m.

In 2012, a semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul was followed by a fourth place at the European Championships in Helsinki . At the Olympic Games in London , he reached the semifinals.

He was five times Spanish champion over 800 m (2001-2005) and once over 400 m (2005). In 2004 and 2005 he won the national 800 m title indoors.
