Division Speed is a German speed and thrash metal - band from Leipzig , which was founded in the year of 2008.
history
The band was founded in 2008 in Neustadt an der Orla by the drummer Aggressive Perfector and the guitarist Venomessiah . Together they wrote the first song Sturmbataillon . Various singers were tried out to record a first demo, including a version with the Rezet singer Richard "Ricky" Wagner, which was distributed to friends of the band. However, neither singer could convince the two. For the first live appearances, Hunter joined the cast as a singer. The bassist Tailgunner completed the line-up. The band's first ever gig took place with Hellish Crossfire . The second electric guitar was occupied by various musicians in subsequent appearances. After releasing several demos and split releases, the group reached a contract with High Roller Records . In early 2015 the EP Blazing Heat was released , with the song of the same name and Wacht am Rhein as the B-side. The latter was already heard on a demo in 2010 while the other is a new song. The theme song, however, is a re-recorded version with Hellish Crossfire's Iron Tyrant guest vocalist. In the same year, the self-titled debut album, which the group had been working on since early 2011, was also released on this label. This was mainly due to the fact that the members live in three different cities in Germany and also because they are involved in other band projects. Everything, except for the guest vocals, was recorded by Tailgunner in Leipzig. The album was mixed and mastered by Patrick W. Engel . Engel had also recorded the drums in the band's own studio HMS Headquarter in Neustadt an der Orla. Outside of Germany, the band has played in Italy , England , Scandinavia and France , among others, and has performed with Aura Noir , Antichrist , Attic and Nocturnal , among others .
style
In an interview with Ulrike Schmitz on hrrecords.de , Aggressive Perfector stated that the band was initially mainly influenced by Hellish Crossfire and Nocturnal . According to Schmitz, most of the songs are about World War II or war in general. Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard stated in his review of the debut album that the group plays speed and thrash metal, which has its roots in the 1980s. In the songs, "[d] as riffing [...] is more agile than with Cruel Force , and the deadly metallic heaviness is left to Hellish Crossfire and Erazor ". The war samples used in the songs could not be misinterpreted by any “ real spack ”.
