Patrick W. Engel

Patrick W. Engel (born June 19, 1974 in Thuringia ) is a German musician and music producer. The multi-instrumentalist played under the pseudonyms Angel of Doom , Bathorick or Angel of Disease in various black metal and thrash metal bands.

Life

Musician

From the age of four, Engel taught himself the basics of piano playing autodidactically and by ear. From 1986 to 1990 he completed a four-year guitar training course at the Pössneck Music School, specializing in “Classical, Swing, Blues & Improvisation” before he learned how to play drums himself and founded his first band.

He gained his first live experience in 1987 as a substitute bass player for a clay-stone-shards - cover band from Neustadt an der Orla , whose original member was drafted into the reserve service of the National People's Army . Shortly afterwards he oriented himself musically towards Thrash and Death Metal and founded the group Cenotaph with two friends in 1990 , from which the formation Nameless emerged in 1993 . From 1995 to 2003 he was the guitarist of the Thuringian black / thrash / death metal band Impending Doom . He brought out other albums, among others on Merciless Records and Avantgarde Music , with Eternity and Buried God . As a guest musician he played with Atanatos, among others, or composed and arranged intros for bands such as Desaster (on the album Angelwhore , 2005). He can also be heard in one role or another on all Heaven Shall Burn albums from the 2000s.

From 2008 to 2010 he was the drummer for the band Macbeth .

After Engel was active as an active musician in around 30 bands and studio projects in his more than twenty-year career, he gradually withdrew from the live sector when he started his freelance work and only maintains the death metal band Hatespawn as a hobby revive a friend of his musician colleagues irregularly in order to publish records.

In the mid-1990s he produced his first demos - both for his own band (he has since played in Impending Doom ) and musician friends who were friends, before he co-founded the Rape of Harmonies studio in Triptis in 1997 . Since 2010 he has been running a one-man business called Temple of Disharmony . In his studio, Engel produced albums for the bands Heaven Shall Burn , Hellish Crossfire , Macbeth , Desaster, Erazor, Purgatory and Nocturnal Witch, among others . He is also often entrusted with the remastering of re-releases and worked in this role on albums by bands of different styles such as At War , Darkthrone , Grave , Jag Panzer and Manilla Road .
