Fjoergyn (from Old Norse Fjörgyn 'earth') is a German metal band from Jena , Thuringia.

history

Fjoergyn was founded in 2003 in Jena by Die Saat singer Stephan L. In February 2013 Sven G. became the band's new bass player and replaced Andre B. In March 2014, Ivo R. became an integral part of the band and has since taken over the gutturally sung parts in the songs.

On March 29, 2005 the band released their debut album harvest in autumn on the label Black Attakk . It is a concept album about nature's revenge on humanity. While the debut album was recorded without a drummer with the help of a drum computer , Martin L. took over the role of drummer on the successor Sade et Masoch , which was completed in spring 2007.

In autumn 2009 the third album Jahreszeiten was released . This album contains stronger elements from Gothic Metal , but was seen as an improvement over the previous album . On the "Nachtreisen" tour with Dornenreich and Ahab , an autographed version of the album, limited to 365 copies, was sold in a metal box in advance.

With Monument end , album number four, was released in April 2013 by reviewers probably best rated Album. "Fjoergyn have become darker," says Pascal Staub from metal.de and claims that the orchestration will allow bombast for the first time. Lyrically, the album moves "despite various stereotypes on an excellent level". Monument Ende is still available from Trollzorn Records .

style

The genre cannot be clearly described, in addition to influences from death , folk , black and pagan metal , there are also some passages of classical music. The songs are mostly slow and epic-atmospheric.
