Dornenreich is an Austrian Dark - / black metal - tape , in 1994 by Thomas "VALNES" floor ( "dark child" at the time) was founded.

history

When the band was founded, the name “Dornenreich” was chosen because of its versatile range of interpretations. Jochen "Evíga" Stock joined in mid-1996 and the first compositions were started. In April 1997, the line-up was completed with Moritz "Gilván" Neuner. He left the band after the third album Her von Welken Nachts and is / was active in bands such as Abigor , Darkwell , Golden Dawn, Sternenstaub , Graveworm or Shadowcast. About four years after Her von wilted nights , Hexenwind was released , which was originally supposed to be a double album , together with the later published Durch den Traum , but ultimately only contained one CD . This album marked the farewell to Thomas "Valñes" Stock, who announced in April 2006 that he was withdrawing from Dornenreich to devote himself to a project called "Eyas". In 2006 Dornenreich was back on stage for the first time in almost five years and Jochen Stock announced that he had found a new permanent member for the group in Thomas "Ínve" Riesner. Riesner already played the violin at Her von Welken Nachts . Through the dream appeared in 2006, the following year Dornenreich played a concert at the Summer Breeze , which was captured by ten cameras for the DVD Nachtreisen , which was released in September 2009 . After the acoustic album In Luft scratched , which was released in 2008, the album Flammentriebe was released in February 2011 , which was played for the first time at a live concert on February 12, 2011 in a music club called Szene in Vienna. The album ties in with the musical style of Her von Welken Nacht .

The album Freiheit , released in spring 2014, is said to be the band's last studio album for the time being.

Music genre

Dornenreich was originally founded as a black metal band, but made several stylistic changes over time, only the demo Mein Flügelschlag and the first album Not to Die can roughly be assigned to Black Metal. The later recordings always involve a change of style, so that a clear assignment to an existing genre can no longer be made. The band repeatedly broke new musical territory through their ongoing development, as a result of which, after the third album Her von Welken Nachtten, a tour was completed with the neofolk bands Tenhi and Of The Wand & The Moon: on which only versions of their pieces interpreted with acoustic guitars were played . Hexenwind , their fourth album, was discussed controversially due to its very calm style and the acoustically held songs. On the following album Flammentriebe the band strikes harder notes again and moves, as in their early days, in metal.
