Through the dream is the fifth album of the Austrian dark metal band Dornenreich and was released in 2006, just one year after the previous album Hexenwind . With the departure of Thomas “Valñes” Stock, all the music and the lyrics come from Jochen “Evíga” Stock. Valñes gives a guest appearance in the second song, in which he took over the synthesizers and the clear vocals. Additional support comes from Michael Stein, who played the drums.

Presentation

The blue cover shows a person standing on a mountain, who is stretching his arms upwards. Both a full and a half moon can be seen in the sky . On the back there is an almost identical illustration, only that the person here has become a tree with a dove rising between the branches.

Like Hexenwind , Durch den Traum also appeared in two versions. The digipak edition also contains the song “Ich bin ein Stern”, which is a setting of a poem by Hermann Hesse .

content

The fact that the album was released only twelve months after Hexenwind was released is also due to the fact that both albums were created during the “Sharrektim” sessions 2001/2002 and only then was it decided which tracks would go on which album. Some material from Through the Dream is therefore older than that from Hexenwind . In the booklet itself, Evíga gives the production time of the titles from December 2001 to March 2006.

The music is therefore also strongly in the direction of the predecessor, but compared to this, Durch den Traum contains more ambient sounds as well as acoustic content that tries to better depict the balancing act between inner calm and turmoil. The style cannot be determined precisely because no dominant genre can be identified and the music is also difficult to paraphrase. Evíga herself described the album as follows:

“For me, 'Through the Dream' is a timeless expression of artistic passion and spiritual search. Lyrically an existentialist nature-mystical journey and musically a vision beyond black metal, (neo-) folk and ambient. 'Through the dream', musically and in terms of content, represents the essence of the first decade of Dornenreich. "
