About this picture

The province of Seville ( Spanish Provincia de Sevilla ) is one of the eight provinces of the autonomous region of Andalusia in southern Spain .

Geographical location

The province of Seville borders the provinces of Málaga , Cádiz , Huelva , Badajoz ( Extremadura ) and Córdoba . The capital of the province is Seville , and it is also the capital of Andalusia. The city of Seville is home to 40% of the province's population.

Seville is located in the Betic Plain, which the Guadalquivir River crosses from north to south-west. Its confluence with the Atlantic forms a vast plain surrounded by mountain terraces. Seville shares the Coto de Doñana National Park with the province of Huelva .

Other major rivers in the region are the tributaries of the Guadalquivir, namely the Genil , the Guadaira and the Viar .

In the north, the province borders on a number of mountain ranges that belong to the Sierra Morena .
