The two-storey building dates from the 18th century. The cellar has a groin vault made of bricks , the walls of the ground floor are made of rubble stones . The upper storey , which was probably built as a hall building in the 19th century, is built in half-timbered construction, with the compartments lined with bricks. An original central passage is structured with pilasters , the gate leaves are designed in the Empire style.

The house was one of the back buildings of the first ducal post office of Zeitz, which existed between 1702 and 1791 and was later operated as the Gasthof Zur Weintraube, then the Hotel Kronprinz and later the Hotel Linke. In the area of Badstubenvorstadt 8 there was also a stable, popularly known as the Klepperstall . However, none of these buildings have survived.

In 1971 the building Badstubenvorstadt 7 was converted into a residential building.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 85260 .
