The men's marathon at the 1962 European Athletics Championships took place on September 16, 1962 in Belgrade , Yugoslavia .

The Briton Brian Kilby won the race in 2: 23: 18.8 hours. The Belgian Aurèle Vandendriessche was vice European champion ahead of Viktor Baykow from the Soviet Union.

The two German athletics federations appeared once again as a team at these European championships. In elimination competitions, Bruno Bartholome and Gerhard Hönicke, two athletes from the GDR and Werner Zylka, one from the Federal Republic of Germany, qualified for the European Championship .
