Aurèle Vandendriessche (born July 4, 1932 in Anzegem ) is a former Belgian long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon .

From 1956 to 1964 he was national champion in the marathon and the 30 km road race nine times in a row . In 1961 he was also the Belgian champion over 10,000 m .

In 1956 he came in 24th place at the Olympic Games in Melbourne . Two years later he was eleventh at the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm in 1958 . In 1960 he gave up at the Olympic Games in Rome .

In 1962 he won the Paderborn Easter run over 25 km and won silver at the European Championships in Belgrade . On October 3rd, he set a world record in the 30,000-meter run in Waregem with 1:34: 41.2 hours . The following year he won the Boston Marathon and came third in the Asahi Marathon .

In 1964 he defended his title in Boston and finished seventh at the Tokyo Olympics . In the following season he finished fourth in Boston with his personal best of 2:17:44 h and won the Enschede Marathon and the Košice Marathon . At the European Championships in Budapest , he won silver again.

In 1965 and 1966 he won the Route du Vin .
