Pavel Kantorek
Pavel Kantorek (born February 8, 1930 in Prague ) is a former Czechoslovak long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon .
In 1956 he was Czechoslovakian marathon champion and fourth in the Košice marathon . At the Olympic Games in Melbourne , he finished eleventh over 10,000 m and came in 27th place in the marathon. The following year he was fourth in the marathon of the International Youth Games and in the Asahi marathon . In 1958 he won the marathon of the International Military Games, was the overall winner in Košice national champion and again fourth in the Asahi marathon.
In 1959 he won the Enschede Marathon , became national champion with the second fastest time of the year of 2:19:06 h, came seventh in Košice and second in the Asahi marathon. In 1960, he was 14th in the marathon of the Olympic Games in Rome , followed by third place in the Asahi marathon. In 1961 he was second in Enschede and Košice (where he was also national champion) and triumphed in the Asahi marathon. In 1962 he defended his national championship title, finished fifth in the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade , won in Košice and finished fifth in the Asahi marathon with his personal best of 2:18:58 h. In the following season he was third in Enschede.
In 1964 he was fifth in the Polytechnic Marathon and national champion as the overall winner in Košice, but only came 25th in the marathon of the Olympic Games in Tokyo .
In 1966 he was eighth in the European Championship marathon in Budapest , and in 1967 he was Czechoslovakian marathon champion for the seventh and last time.
In 1961 he became national champion in the 25 km road race and in 1962 over 10,000 m.
