geography
Farafangana is located in the Atsimo-Atsinanana region , in the Fianarantsoa province on the east coast of Madagascar. The city is the capital and administrative seat of the region, as well as the district of the same name . The Manombo Nature Reserve is a few kilometers south of the city. The Manampatrana River flows into the Indian Ocean at the northern city limits .
Farafangana is just under 400 km south of the capital Antananarivo .

Economy and Infrastructure
