Florian Carvalho (born March 9, 1989 in Fontainebleau ) is a French athlete who specializes in the 1,500 meter run .

Athletic career

Carvalho drew attention in the junior area, especially in cross-country running. He finished second at the European Cross Country Championships in 2007 and won the junior race in 2008. In the U23 age group he was fourth in 2009, second in 2010 and first in 2011.

At the European Indoor Championships in 2011 in Paris, he reached eighth place in the 3000 meter run . In the same year he became U23 European champion in the 1500 meter run in Ostrava.

Carvalho achieved his international breakthrough by winning the silver medal in the 1500 meter run at the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 . At the Olympic Games in London , however, he could not qualify for the final. In 2013 he was fifth over 3000 m at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and eleventh over 1500 m at the World Championships in Moscow .

Carvalho is a four-time French champion in the 1500 meter run (2011, 2012, 2013, 2016).
