Chris O'Hare (born November 23, 1990 in West Linton ) is a British middle -distance runner who specializes in the 1,500 meter distance .

Athletic career

Chris O'Hare gained his first international experience at the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008 in Pune , where he finished eighth over 1500 meters. He then began studying at the University of Tulsa and competed exclusively in the United States until 2013. In 2013 he then qualified over 1500 meters for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was twelfth in the final. In 2014 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , Poland , where he was eliminated in the first run over 1500 meters. During the outdoor season he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time , where he finished sixth in the final with 3: 40.63 minutes. He then won the European Championships in Zurich and won the bronze medal in 3: 46.18 minutes.

In 2015 he won the bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships in Prague , where he ran 3: 38.96 min in the final. He qualified again for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 3: 44.36 min in the semifinals . In 2016 he finished eighth at the World Indoor Championships in Portland in 3: 46.50 minutes and qualified for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro for the first time . There he reached the semifinals . In 2017 he took part in the World Championships in London for the third time and made it to the finals , in which he finished twelfth with 3: 38.28 minutes.

In 2018 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , where he finished eighth in the final with 4: 00.65 min. In April he started again at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and finished eighth there in 3: 39.04 min.

In 2013, as well as in 2017 and 2018, O'Hare became British champion in the 1,500 meter run. He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa .
