The nature reserve Unteres Heimental lies in the area of the communities Schefflenz and Elztal in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg .
Characteristics
The protected area was created on December 21, 1979 by ordinance of the Karlsruhe Regional Council with the protected area number 2.047. This regulation was published in the law gazette for Baden-Württemberg on February 29, 1980 and came into force thereafter. The CDDA code is 82754 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
location
It is a moist meadow valley with dry and semi-dry grass on the valley slopes, which lies between Oberschefflenz and the Elztal district of Rittersbach . It belongs to the FFH area no. 6620.341 building land Mosbach and also to the Neckartal-Odenwald nature park . The area is in the natural area 128- building land within the natural spatial main unit 12- Neckar- and Tauber-Gäuplatten .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, an essential protection purpose is conservation
- an extensive wetland area with reed meadows (large sedge stands) and tree pastures in the valley floodplain;
- and securing of the valley slopes and embankments characterized by dry grass communities;
- the extraordinary diversity of the animals and plants living here;
- and promotion of the area as a breeding, feeding and resting biotope for partly threatened bird species;
- as a habitat for amphibians and reptiles.
