Stella Akakpo (born February 28, 1994 in Villepinte , Département Seine-Saint-Denis ) is a French sprinter .

Athletic career

Stella Akakpo gained her first international experience in 2011 at the World Youth Championships near Lille , where she reached the semi-finals in the 100-meter run , in which she was eliminated with 12.40 seconds. Then she decided not to start over 200 meters. At the European Olympic Festival in Trabzon , however, she was fifth in the 200-meter run in 24.55 s . Two years later she won the European Junior Championships in Rieti in 11.52 s over 100 meters and won the silver medal in the 4 x 100 m relay in 44.00 s. In both disciplines she qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she eliminated over 100 meters with 11.67 s in the first round, while she was disqualified with the relay in the final. At the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas she finished eighth in 43.76 s and in August she won the silver medal behind the United Kingdom in 42.45 s at the European Championships in Zurich . The following year, the French relay team at the 2015 IAAF World Relays failed to finish. At the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , she secured the bronze medal over 100 meters in 11.55 s. At the World Championships in Beijing , the French relay failed to reach the finals in 43.58 s .

At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , she finished sixth in the final in 43.05 s with the French relay and was disqualified over 100 meters in the semifinals. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she finished fourth with the French 4 x 100 meter relay in the preliminary round in 43.07 s and thus did not qualify for the final. At the European Athletics Indoor Championships 2017 in Belgrade , she reached the semi-finals over 60 meters and was eliminated there with 7.34 seconds. In the World Relays she finished fifth in 43.90 seconds. In 2018 she took part in the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona for the first time and finished fifth there in 11.61 s. With the relay she reached the final at the European Championships in Berlin , in which she also came in fifth in 43.10 s. The following year she reached the semi-finals over 100 meters at the Summer Universiade in Naples , where she was eliminated with 11.63 s. Before that, she finished fifth in 11.52 s at the European Games in Minsk .

In 2016 Akakpo became French champion in the 100-meter run outdoors, in 2014 in the 60-meter run and in 2016 over 200 meters in the hall.
