The men's 200-meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 was held on September 1 and 2, 1966 in Budapest's Népstadion .

France won two medals with gold and bronze. It was won by the 100 meter vice European champion Roger Bambuck . Second place went to Marian Dudziak from Poland . Bronze went to Jean-Claude Nallet .

The electronically determined services can also be found in the time information. At that time, however, as at the Olympic Games, these were still unofficial. Officially, the hand-timed times were evaluated at these European championships, but these are no longer listed in the sources at places with information on electronic timekeeping. For several years there was also a juxtaposition of manually and electronically stopped times for the best lists and records.
