Marian Dudziak
Marian Andrzej Dudziak (born February 2, 1941 in Wielichowo ) is a former Polish athlete . The 1.81 m tall and 81 kg heavy Dudziak won silver medals at the Olympic Games and European Championships.
Career
Dudziak made his first start at major international championships at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo . In the 100-meter run , he was eliminated in the quarter-finals. With the Polish 4 x 100 meter relay , he reached the final. Andrzej Zieliński , Wiesław Maniak , Marian Foik and Marian Dudziak won silver in 39.3 seconds after the final photo decision in front of the tied French relay, only the US relay could not be reached.
At the European Championships in Budapest in 1966 , Dudziak won the semifinals of the 200-meter run in 20.9 seconds before the Frenchman Roger Bambuck , in the final Bambuck was able to improve and won in 20.9 seconds before Dudziak in 21.0 seconds. Dudziak, who was running in third place, injured himself in the relay preliminaries and had to retire.
In 1967 Dudziak joined the European Indoor Games in Prague and was fifth in the 50-meter run. The following year he missed the sprint final in Madrid , but won as a starting runner with the Polish 1-2-3-4-round relay silver behind the relay from the USSR. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , Dudziak retired over 100 meters in the quarter-finals in 10.32 seconds. The Polish relay qualified for the final in 38.99 seconds, but only finished eighth and last in 39.22 seconds.
1971 at the European Championships in Helsinki Dudziak stepped again with the relay. In the final, only five seasons came into the ranking, the seasons from France and the GDR, which had occupied the places 2 and 3 behind the Czechoslovaks, were disqualified because the change marks were exceeded. This benefited Gerard Gramse , Tadeusz Cuch , Zenon Nowosz and Dudziak, who finished in 39.7 seconds and received silver for it. In 1972 Dudziak was in the Polish squad for the Olympic Games in Munich , but was not used.
Dudziak won the Polish national championship 200 meters in 1966 and over 100 meters in 1968. He competed for Olimpia Poznań during his career .
Dudziak had already completed his engineering degree at the Technical University of Poznan during his career . In 1974 he was awarded a doctorate , and in 1990 the mechanical engineer received his habilitation .
