József Szécsényi

József Szécsényi (born January 10, 1932 in Szegvár , Csongrád county , † March 19, 2017 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian discus thrower .

At the European Athletics Championships in 1954 in Bern and at the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1955, he won bronze.

A silver medal at the World University Games in 1957 was followed by eighth place at the 1958 European Championship in Stockholm and fourth place at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

In 1962 he won bronze at the World Festival of Youth and Students and was sixth at the European Championships in Belgrade . At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he was fifth.

He was Hungarian champion nine times (1955–1956, 1958–63, 1965). He set his personal best of 60.66 m on August 19, 1962 in Tatabánya .
