Hannes Mak

Hannes Mak (born November 10, 1982 ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). Since 2015 he has been mayor of the municipality of Gallizien and since October 2019 a member of the Carinthian state parliament .

Life

After finishing primary school in Gallizien, Hannes Mak attended the lower level of the Bundesrealgymnasium Klagenfurt Lerchenfeld and from 1997 to 1999 the HTBLA Klagenfurt Mössingerstrasse. He then completed an apprenticeship from 1999 to 2003 (vocational school 1 Klagenfurt), and from 2011 to 2013 he attended the foremen's school for workers specializing in mechanical engineering.

Mak is married and has two children.

From March 2009 he was a member of the municipal council from June 2014 on the municipal board of the municipality of Gallizien , where he was elected mayor in the course of the municipal council and mayoral elections in Carinthia in 2015 . He ran in a runoff against Holger Miggitsch (SPÖ) and won with 53.44 percent of the vote. He worked for the Mahle company until he was elected mayor. In 2014 he became ÖVP parish party chairman in Gallizien, in 2016 he succeeded Franz Wieser as district party chairman of the ÖVP in the Völkermarkt district .

On 24 October 2019 he was in the 32nd legislative period as a Member of the Carinthian parliament sworn in , where he served on the committee for citizen participation, direct democracy and petitions and the Committee on Culture, Sports and Europe. He replaced Johann Weber , who moved to the National Council. In the ÖVP state parliament club he acts as the area spokesman for citizen participation, Europe, sport, customs, voluntary work and clubs.
