Jakob Strauss

Jakob Strauss (born April 26, 1960 ) is an Austrian installation master and politician ( SPÖ ). Strauss since 2001 mayor of Sitterdorf , since 2004 Member of the Carinthian parliament and since April 2018 Second President of Parliament .

education and profession

Jakob Strauss attended grammar school after elementary school, but later switched to a secondary school. After completing compulsory school, Strauss learned the profession of gas / water pipe fitter and central heating engineer. From 1980 to 1982 Strauss worked for the Steinwender company in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee and between 1982 and 2004 he worked for Stadtwerke Klagenfurt AG as a works installation master.

politics

Strauss was a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke AG from 2001 to 2003 and was elected mayor of the municipality of Sittersdorf on May 1, 2001. Strauss was confirmed in office in the mayoral elections in 2003 with 66 percent and in 2009 with 67.33 percent. Since March 31, 2004, Strauss has also been a member of the Carinthian state parliament.

Strauss has been district party chairman of the SPÖ in the Völkermarkt district since October 2004 .

On April 12, 2018 he was elected as the successor to Rudolf Schober as the second president of the state parliament.

Private

Strauss is married and has one daughter. He lives in the Sittersdorf village of Tichoja.
