Waltraud Rohrer

Waltraud Rohrer (born March 8, 1961 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and works councilor. She has been a member of the Carinthian state parliament since 2013 .

education and profession

Rohrer first attended elementary school and secondary school and then graduated from a federal college for four years. As a result, she continued her education at a health and nursing school for three years. Rohrer also completed an apprenticeship as an academically certified hospital manager and certified nurse at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . Rohrer was active in the medical aid service at the hospital of the Barmherzigen Brüder between 1979 and 1980 and worked as a qualified nurse at the Villach State Hospital from 1983 to 1988. In 1988, she took over the management of the ward at the Villach Regional Hospital, which she held until 2010. In 2010 she was released as deputy chairwoman of the works council.

Politics and functions

Rohrer's country woman chairman of the Austrian Trade Union Federation -Kärnten and member of the Presidium of the ÖGB Carinthia. She ran in the state elections in 2013 in fourth place on the SPÖ state list and in third place in the Villach constituency and was subsequently sworn in as a member of the state parliament on March 28, 2013. She is a member of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, Hospitals, Families, Generations and Women and a member of the Committee on Sustainability, Nature Conservation, Energy, Environment, Climate Protection and Public Transport. Rohrer sees the focus of her work as a member of the state parliament in the expansion of the LKH Villach into a specialty hospital, the relocation of the ÖGB training workshop from Krumpendorf to Villach and “women's issues” such as childcare.

Private

Rohrer is single and has one daughter. She lives in Villach.
