Hermann Lipitsch (born June 14, 1960 in Villach ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), trade union official and ÖBB employee. Lipitsch was a member of the Austrian National Council from 2008 to 2017 .

education and profession

Lipitsch attended elementary and secondary school and then the polytechnic course. He then completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and did military service.

Lipitsch worked as a car mechanic from 1979 to 1980 and has been with the Austrian Federal Railways since 1980. He was initially a loader and shunting operator until July 1980 and then became a train attendant. In addition, Lipitsch worked for several years as a trainer in personnel development at the ÖBB General Directorate and has been an exempt works council since 1997.

politics

Lipitsch is heavily involved in the union. From 1994 to 1997 he was chairman of the train escort service in the ombudsman committee and from 1997 until November 2001 he was released chairman of the ombudsman committee at Villach Central Station . From 1997 to July 2002 he also held the position of local group chairman of the railway workers' union for Villach and was a member of the central management. In addition, from 2001 to October 2003 he was a member of the personnel committee for the South region for passenger and freight transport. On October 1, 2003, Lipitsch took over the executive chairmanship of the Carinthian Railway Workers' Union and became regional chairman for Carinthia and Styria. After founding the vida union , Lipitsch took over the office of chairman in 2007.

Lipitsch is a board member of the Carinthian Chamber of Labor and has been its vice-president since November 2003. On June 1, 2008, he took over the chairmanship of the ÖGB regional organization in Carinthia. In the National Council election in 2008 , he ran in the regional electoral district of Carinthia and entered the National Council through this. For the SPÖ he was a member of the National Council (XXIV. – XXV. GP) from October 28, 2008 to November 8, 2017. During this legislative period , he was deputy chairman in the committee for petitions and citizens' initiatives.

He ran in the state elections in Carinthia in 2018 for the Social Democratic Party of Austria for the constituency of Villach and Villach-Land and has moved into the state parliament as their member.
