Luca Burgstaller

Luca Burgstaller , also Luca Maria Burgstaller , (born July 22, 1995 ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). Since April 2018 he has been a member of the Carinthian state parliament .

Life

Luca Burgstaller grew up in Hermagor , where he graduated from BORG in 2013 after attending elementary and secondary school . In 2014 he began studying business law .

At the age of 15 he became active in the Socialist Young Generation (SJG). From 2013 he was a member of the regional executive committee of the Socialist Young Generation of Carinthia, and he was elected regional chairman in April 2016 to succeed Michael Raunig. Since the municipal council and mayoral elections in Carinthia in 2015 , he has been a member of the municipal council in Hermagor, where he also acts as SPÖ city party chairman.

In June 2017 he was presented as the successor to Josef Zoppoth as the top candidate for the state elections in Carinthia in 2018 for the Hermagor district . On 12 April 2018 he was in the inaugural parliament session of the 32nd legislative period as a Member of the Carinthian parliament sworn in , where he acts as a speaker for youth, innovation and digitalization and the Committee on Finance and Investment Management, the Committee on Women, generations and integration, and Member of the Committee on Legal Affairs, Constitution, Immunity, Ethnic Groups and Education. In October 2019 he also succeeded Klaus Köchl as chairman of the committee for municipalities, fire services and disaster control.

As the successor to Christian Potocnik, he is head of the Hermagor district office at the Red Cross and was appointed to the state rescue council.
