Klaus Köchl

Klaus Köchl (born November 28, 1961 in St. Veit an der Glan ) is an Austrian ÖBB employee and politician ( SPÖ ). Köchl has been the mayor of Liebenfels since 2003 and was a member of the Carinthian state parliament from 2008 to 2019 . He has been a member of the National Council since October 23, 2019 .

education and profession

Köchl attended elementary school in Liebenfels from 1968 to 1972 and then switched to secondary school in Sankt Veit an der Glan . Afterwards, Köchl completed an office and administration school in Sankt Georgen am Längsee between 1976 and 1977 and learned the profession of office clerk from 1977 to 1980 . Köchl worked from 1980 to 1982 as a representative for carpentry machines and then switched to the Austrian Federal Railways, where he has worked in the transport service ever since. Köchl is currently on leave as an ÖBB employee.

politics

Köchl has been a member of the SPÖ since 1982 and has been involved in community politics since the early 1990s. In 2003 he was elected mayor of the Liebenfels community. Köchl has represented the SPÖ in the Carinthian state parliament since April 24, 2008 , after Gerhard Mock left voluntarily. Köchl had already replaced Mock as SPÖ district party chairman in May 2007 after Mock had left his position for lack of time.

On October 23, 2019, he moved to the National Council at the beginning of the 27th legislative period . Armin Geissler took his place in the state parliament .

Private

Köchl is divorced and has two children.
