Silvia Häusl-Benz

Silvia Häusl-Benz (born July 17, 1979 ) is an Austrian politician for the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). She has been the mayor of Pörtschach am Wörther See since 2015, and has been a member of the Carinthian state parliament since April 2018 .

Life

After elementary school in Pörtschach am Wörther See, Silvia Häusl-Benz attended secondary school in Moosburg and the Carinthian tourism school in Villach . In 1999 she began studying business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business , and in 2000 she moved to the University of Klagenfurt , where she studied applied business administration. She completed her studies in 2004 with a diploma thesis on quality management in tourism with two case studies from the hotel industry as a Magistra. From 2004 to 2015 she was a member of the supervisory board of Pörtschacher Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH , whose supervisory board chair she has been since 2015.

From 2006 she was a member of the municipal council of Pörtschach am Wörther See , where she was elected mayor in the course of the municipal council and mayoral elections in Carinthia in 2015 . In the runoff election against the FPÖ candidate, Franz Arnold, she won 52.02 percent of the vote. In the National Council election in Austria in 2017 , she ran for the Sebastian Kurz list - the new people's party in the Klagenfurt regional constituency .

On 12 April 2018, she was in the inaugural parliament session of the 32nd legislative period as a Member of the Carinthian parliament sworn in , where she served on the committee for women, generations and integration, and the Committee on Health, Care and Social Affairs. In addition to club chairman Markus Malle , she acts as deputy chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club.
