Reinhart Rohr

Reinhart Rohr (born October 24, 1959 in Stockenboi , Carinthia ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and former Deputy Governor of Carinthia. Since March 28, 2013 he has been President of the Carinthian Parliament .

education and profession

Rohr attended elementary school in Stockenboi from 1966 to 1970 and then switched to secondary school in Feistritz an der Drau until 1974 . He then attended the higher agricultural federal college Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg , which he graduated in 1979 with the Matura. After that, Rohr performed military service in 1980 .

Rohr worked from 1980 to 1989 as the state secretary of the SPÖ farmers and rose to the state party secretary of the SPÖ Carinthia in 1990. From July 1994 to June 2002 he was district manager of the SPÖ Villach .

politics

Rohr represented the SPÖ Carinthia from October 3, 1991 to April 18, 1994 in the Austrian Federal Council . He was then from April 1994 to February 1997 and from October 1997 to June 2002 a member of the Carinthian state parliament . On June 27, 2002, Reinhart Rohr was elected as regional councilor in the Haider III regional government and took over responsibility for the environment and communities. After the resignation of the regional party leader Gabriele Schaunig-Kandut , Rohr was elected as the 2nd Deputy Governor of Carinthia on July 17, 2008. He then passed the environmental agendas to the new state councilor Nicole Cernic and kept the areas of municipalities, energy, water management, fire brigades as well as personnel and special needs allocations. On August 23, 2008, Rohr followed Schaunig as state party chairman of the SPÖ after he had been elected with around 93 percent of the votes at a special party conference. Rohr had previously lost the runoff election for this function against Schaunig in October 2005. After Jörg Haider's death , Rohr ran for the office of governor in October 2008, but was narrowly defeated by Haider's party colleague Gerhard Dörfler (BZÖ), who was also supported by the ÖVP. Rohr subsequently remained deputy governor in the provincial government Dörfler I and stood in the state elections in Carinthia in 2009 as a top candidate of the SPÖ, where he was again subject to the BZÖ with top candidate Gerhard Dörfler. In March 2010 Rohr handed over the chairmanship of the Carinthian SPÖ to Peter Kaiser . Rohr has been chairman of the SPÖ district party in Villach since June 24, 2002. Rohr was a supervisory board member of Hypo-Landesbank from 1984 to 1989, from 1988 to 1990 a member of the supervisory board of the Heimat building cooperative and since 1990 a member of the board of the Heimat building cooperative.

Private

Rohr is married, has three children and lives in Villach. He is President of the Villach Workers' Sports Club (VAS).
