State government Haider III

The state government Haider III formed the Carinthian government of their swearing in on March 31, 2004 and for the affirmation of the state government villagers I . Jörg Haider was re-elected Governor of Carinthia. Due to the proportional representation system , three representatives each from the FPÖ (from 2005 BZÖ ) and SPÖ as well as one representative from the ÖVP were involved in the state government .

As the first member of the state government, Karl Pfeifenberger left office with effect from February 21, 2005, as he wanted to switch to the private sector. As his successor, the previous club chairman of the FPÖ in the state parliament Martin Strutz was sworn in on February 21.

As a result of the defeat of the SPÖ in the state elections in 2004 against the FPÖ, the second deputy governor and state party chairman Peter Ambrozy had to resign in autumn 2005 . He resigned his office on November 23, 2005, the previous state councilor Gabriele Schaunig-Kandut and Ambrozy's successor as state party chairwoman was elected as the new 2nd deputy governor on the same day. On November 23, Wolfgang Schantl took over as the new regional councilor .

The 1st Deputy Governor Martin Strutz (BZÖ) resigned from his office with effect from November 9, 2006 and moved back to the Carinthian Parliament as the 3rd President of the State Parliament. Regional Councilor Gerhard Dörfler was sworn in as his successor on November 9th. Uwe Scheuch moved up as regional councilor . Dörfler kept the areas of traffic, road construction, family, childcare and took over the tourism department from Governor Jörg Haider. Haider himself kept the areas of finance and constitution and added the cultural agendas to his area.

In July 2008, Gabriele Schaunig resigned from all political functions, her position as deputy governor took over the state councilor Reinhart Rohr. Peter Kaiser and Nicole Cernic followed as state councilors for Schaunig and Schantl .

Governor Jörg Haider was killed in a traffic accident on October 11, 2008. Until his election as the new governor, Gerhard Dörfler temporarily took over the official business.
