State government Leopold Wagner III
The state government Leopold Wagner III formed the Carinthian state government in the 24th legislative period from the inauguration of the government on October 29, 1979 to the inauguration of the subsequent Wagner IV government on October 30, 1984.
After there had been no postponements in the 1979 state elections , the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) continued to provide four of the seven government members who were assigned according to the proportional representation system. In addition to the governor, the SPÖ also sent the first deputy governor and two regional councilors to the government. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) also provided a regional councilor in addition to the second deputy governor. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was represented in the government with a regional council.
Compared to the previous Wagner II government, the state government of Wagner III entered the new government period with almost no personnel changes. Only Stefan Knafl (ÖVP) was promoted to second deputy governor, while his predecessor, Herbert Bacher , withdrew to the office of regional councilor. During the government period, three members left the state government prematurely. After Hans Schober (SPÖ) left the government on December 17, 1982, Max Rauscher took up the position of regional councilor. Mario Ferrari-Brunnenfeld then resigned his office on June 9, 1983 and enabled Jörg Haider (FPÖ) to join the state government. The last change came on July 1, 1983, when Herbert Bacher (ÖVP) resigned from office, whereupon Hans Schumi was elected to the new regional councilor.
