Hans Schumi

Hans Schumi (born February 4, 1933 ; † July 20, 2017 in Vorderberg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

From 1961 to 1972 he was mayor of the former municipality of Vorderberg and from 1973 to 1983 mayor of St. Stefan im Gailtal . From 1965 to 1983 he was also a member of the Carinthian state parliament , and from 1975 he held the office of 2nd state parliament president. Between 1973 and 1983 he was also Vice President of the Carinthian Association of Municipalities and a member of the federal board of the Austrian Association of Municipalities.

From 1983 to 1988, under Governor Leopold Wagner , Schumi was a member of the Carinthian provincial government as a provincial councilor for agriculture and forestry, agricultural education, hunting and fishing etc. a. ( State government Wagner III and IV ). He was also deputy chairman of the Carinthian ÖVP and a member of the federal party leadership. In 1988 he left the state government at his own request. For ten years Hans Schumi was councilor and chairman of the control committee of the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture.

Since 1987 Schumi has been an economist and holder of the Carinthian Order in Gold, as well as the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .
