Carinthian Order

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Carinthian State Order is the most significant honor currently awarded by the federal state of Carinthia . The various levels are assigned by the governor or on his behalf. It is located above the decoration of the state of Carinthia . The governor and the first president of the state parliament receive the Carinthian regional order in gold on the day of their election.

Until November 2017, the state order in gold was reserved for politicians, with a few exceptions. After criticism of the decision to award the writer Peter Handke only the state medal in silver, the state government changed the award guidelines so that the gold level is open to all caretakers in the future. At the same time, the previous age limit of at least fifty years was abolished.

Order levels

The state order is awarded in the stages of silver and gold. The Carinthian state coat of arms with a height of 67 mm and a width of 60 mm is shown enamelled in color. At the bottom there is the inscription PRO CARINTHIA . The insignia is worn as a neck decoration on a gold or silver chain.
