David Bruhn

David Bruhn (born September 30, 1727 in Memel , † April 27, 1782 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian , preacher and hymn poet .

Life

The son of a trader was born in Memel on September 30, 1727 and studied in Königsberg from 1743 and in Halle from 1747, under the direction of Siegmund Jakob Baumgarten , whose librarian Bruhn was. In 1750 Bruhn became vice principal of a grammar school in Berlin, the Cöllnischen grammar school , two years later preacher at a cadet school . David Bruhn became a deacon for St. Mary's Church in 1754 ; two years later he became archdeacon there , which he remained until his death on April 27, 1782. Bruhn was an employee of a hymn book by Johann Samuel Diterich hymn book for worship use in the royal Prussian lands , which was published in Berlin in 1765. For this he has repackaged seven old songs and wrote four songs from scratch.
