Ferdinand Hueter

Ferdinand Hueter (born January 31, 1960 ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). He was mayor of Berg im Drautal from 1997 to 2018 and has been a member of the Carinthian state parliament since 2004 .

education and profession

After elementary and secondary school, Hueter attended a commercial school and then switched to a higher federal college, where he passed the Matura. Hueter works as a farmer and runs a 40 hectare farm. In 1988 he was awarded the professional title of agricultural engineer .

politics

Hueter was mayor of the municipality of Berg im Drautal from 1997 to 2018 , he was confirmed in office in 2009 with 80.3 percent in the first round of the direct mayor election. In October 2003 Hueter took over the office of ÖVP district party chairman in the Spittal an der Drau district . On March 31, 2004, he entered the state parliament as a member of parliament. Hueter is the traffic spokesman for the ÖVP state parliament club.

In July 2013, a statement by Hueter, in which he insulted the FPÖ parliamentary group as a "gypsy", caused a sensation and accusations of racism throughout Austria because he had insulted and discriminated against a whole ethnic group.

In April 2018 Hueter resigned as mayor of Berg im Drautal, the official business was taken over by the first deputy mayor Wolfgang Krenn (ÖVP). Krenn was elected mayor on June 24, 2018.

At the end of February 2019, the state parliament lifted the immunity as the Klagenfurt public prosecutor was investigating him on suspicion of infidelity.

Private

Hueter is married and has two daughters and a son. He lives in Berg im Drautal.
