Hermann Jantschgi (born January 16, 1964 ) is an Austrian innkeeper and politician (FPK) and the incumbent mayor of the market town of Kirchbach in Carinthia . From 2012 to 2013 he was a member of the Carinthian state parliament . Since April 2018 he has been a member of the state parliament again.

Life

Jantschgi was born in 1964 and attended elementary school in Gundersheim. He then graduated from the Kötschach-Mauthen secondary school and then continued his education at the four-year construction school at the HTL Villach . Jantschgi runs the Gasthof Post in Grafendorf , where he lives with his wife. He is the father of a son and a daughter.

Jantschgi was elected to the Kirchbach municipal council in 1997 as a representative of the Freedom Party in Carinthia (then FPÖ) . He was elected chairman of the control committee and in 2003 a member of the community board. From 2005 to 2009, in the course of the split in the FPÖ, he joined the BZÖ like almost all of the Carinthian Freedom Party. He ran for the mayoral election in Kirchbach in 2009 and won the runoff election on March 15, 2009 with 60.9% of the SPÖ candidate. On April 4, 2009 he took over the mayor's office in Kirchbach. Within the party, Jantschgi is the local party chairman and deputy district party chairman, although he has been a member of the FPK since the Carinthian Freedom Party split off from the BZÖ. After Kurt Scheuch's withdrawal, Jantschgi moved up as a member of the Carinthian state parliament. He was sworn in on August 7, 2012 and was subsequently a member of the Committee on Nature Conservation, Animal Welfare, Hunting, Fisheries, Water Management, Spatial Planning and National Parks and the Committee on Incompatibility. In the state elections in 2013 , he ran for the FPK in state electoral district 4 in sixth place and in 16th place on the state list, but clearly failed due to the severe defeat of his party when he returned to the state parliament.

Jantschgi is chairman of the "Motorcycle Club Reisskofelbiker" and the Grafendorf-Gundersheimer Sportklub.
