Andreas Scherwitzl

Andreas Scherwitzl (born September 10, 1966 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and employee of the Carinthian state government. He has been a member of the Carinthian state parliament since 2013 and also mayor of the Magdalensberg market town .

Life

After elementary school, Scherwitzl attended a general high school and passed the Matura there in 1985 . After completing his school education, he did his community service and then began studying law at the University of Graz in 1986 , which he finished in 1991 without a degree. Scherwitzl occurred in the same year in the service of the SPÖ Carinthia, in 1994 he became a staff member in the Office of the Carinthian Government. He returned to the SPÖ Carinthia in 1995 and worked there again as an employee until 2004. Since 2004 Scherwitzl is again active as a clerk at the office of the Carinthian provincial government.

After Gerhard Wedenig's retirement as mayor of Magdalensberg, Scherwitzl ran for the SPÖ Magdalensberg in the 2009 direct mayor election. In the election he was able to prevail against his two competitors from the ÖVP and the BZÖ with 66.22% in the first ballot. In addition to his office as mayor, Scherwitzl also acts as the local party chairman of the SPÖ Magdalensberg. He then ran for the SPÖ in the 2013 state elections and ran for ninth place on the state list and tenth place in the Klagenfurt state electoral district . Scherwitzl achieved a mandate and was sworn in as a member of the Carinthian state parliament on March 28, 2013. He also took on the role of deputy SPÖ club chairman and was elected chairman of the Committee on Law, Constitution, Europe, Ethnic Groups, Education, Personnel and Immunity. He is also a member of the Committee for Hunting, Animal Welfare, Nature, National and Biosphere Parks.

Scherwitzl is married and has one son.
