Rudolf Schober

Rudolf Schober (born September 28, 1946 ) is an Austrian detective and politician ( SPÖ ). From 1999 to 2018 he was a member of the Carinthian state parliament .

Life

Schober completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic and was employed by the federal gendarmerie. He was employed in various posts in Carinthia for several years and eventually became a detective with the Klagenfurt police.

Schober is chairman of the SPÖ Klagenfurt-Land. In the mid-1980s he joined the Automobile, Motor and Cyclists Association of Austria (ARBÖ) and was regional president of ARBÖ Carinthia from the mid-1990s. After there had been disputes between the ARBÖ federal organization and the Carinthian regional organization from 2005, Schober took over the presidency of the federal organization for a few weeks in 2007. Due to the ongoing disputes, however, Schober was excluded from the federal organization in October 2006 and dismissed from his position as President of ARBÖ-Kärnten. Schober appealed against his dismissal and was confirmed in his office as state president by the arbitration court of the Carinthian ARBÖ. However, due to the ongoing conflict with the federal organization, Schober resigned from office in October 2008 in frustration.

From 1999 Schober was a member of the Carinthian state parliament. He was the traffic and safety spokesman for the SPÖ state parliament club. From March 31, 2009 to April 12, 2018 he was 2nd President of the Carinthian Parliament. Jakob Strauss succeeded him in this position .

Schober has been President of the Carinthian Civil Protection Association since November 9, 2010.
