Suzanne Allday

Suzanne Allday (born Farmer ; born November 26, 1934 in Shoreham-by-Sea ; † July 26, 2017 ) was a British discus thrower and shot putter .

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , she came in 15th place in the discus throw.

In 1954 she won silver in the discus throw for England starting at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver and was sixth in the shot put and in the javelin throw . Two years later she finished 15th in the shot put at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and was eliminated in the qualifying discus throw.

In 1958 she won gold in discus throw and silver in shot put at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff . At the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm she was fifth in the shot put and tenth in the discus throw. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, she did not get beyond the preliminary round in the shot put and discus throw.

In 1962 she was tenth in the shot put at the European Championships in Belgrade . At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth , she won bronze in the shot put and came fourth in the discus throw.

She was English champion in discus throwing seven times (1952, 1953, 1956, 1958–1961) and in the shot put (1954, 1956, 1958–1962). In the hall she won the English championship title in 1962 and 1963.

She was married to the former hammer thrower Peter Allday († 2018).
