Derrick Luckassen (born July 3, 1995 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player . He is under contract with PSV Eindhoven , is a multiple young Dutch national player and is currently on loan to RSC Anderlecht .
Career
society
Luckassen, the son of Ghanaian parents, began playing football at Amsterdamsche FC and in 2007 moved to the AZ youth academy . On August 30, 2014 he made his debut in the Eredivisie in a 3-1 away win on matchday four against FC Dordrecht . At the end of the season, AZ qualified for the qualification for the UEFA Europa League . In the following season , the club was eliminated in the UEFA Europa League after the group stage, while in the league the return to international competition was missed. In his last season for AZ, Luckassen qualified for participation in the finals in the KNVB-Beker, in which they lost to Vitesse Arnheim . AZ also qualified for the play-offs to qualify for the UEFA Europa League and lost in the final against FC Utrecht .
In the summer of 2017 Luckassen moved to PSV Eindhoven and became Dutch champions with the club. On August 28, 2018, he switched to the Bundesliga with Hertha BSC on loan with a purchase option . Due to a protracted injury, he was only used four times. Following the season, which he concluded with Hertha in eleventh place in the table, the purchase option was not drawn and the midfielder returned to Eindhoven.
He did not play for Eindhoven in the first three games of the new season. Luckassen was probably at the Dutch Supercup 2019 for the Johan Cruyff bowl . Eindhoven lost that game against Ajax Amsterdam . At the end of August 2019, a loan for the rest of the 2019/20 season with a subsequent purchase option was agreed with the Belgian first division partner RSC Anderlecht . Luckassen played 18 out of 24 possible games for RSC Anderlecht this season until it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The loan expired on June 30, 2020, so that he was formally part of the PSV Eindhoven squad again from July 1, 2020. On June 14, 2020, a new loan was agreed until the end of the 2020/21 season.
National team
Derrick Luckassen completed at least one game for the Dutch U18 national team and then played six games for the Dutch U19 national team and two for the U20 team . On November 13, 2014, Luckassen made his debut for the Dutch U21 national team in a 3-1 friendly defeat in Ingolstadt against Germany . Luckassen played nine games and scored one goal; The Dutch U21s could not qualify for the 2017 European Championship in Poland . Luckassen played his last game for the team at 2-2 on September 2, 2016 in the European Championship qualifier against Belarus in Minsk .
