Wegkapelle Neumarkt an der Raab
The way chapel is on the thoroughfare at the entrance to Kapellenzipf in Neumarkt an der Raab in the market town of Sankt Martin an der Raab in the Jennersdorf district in Burgenland . The chapel is under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
The chapel was built in 1812. In the course of a diagnosis prior to restoration, wall paintings from the first half of the 19th century were discovered in the interior and were uncovered and restored in 2017.
architecture
The path chapel with a simple room has a simple open round arch portal, above it a profiled surrounding cornice and a roof with a triangular gable. The portal side shows the inscription " Praise be to Jesus Christ ". The chapel has a wrought iron border and carries an articulated wrought iron cross.
Inside the chapel there is a wall niche with a figure above a brick cafeteria. Wall paintings were uncovered and restored in 2017.
