Andreas Jakob Hecker (born November 8, 1746 in Stargard , † July 25, 1819 in Berlin ) was a Protestant theologian, educator, pastor and secondary school director in Stargard and Berlin.

Life

Andreas Jacob Hecker was born as the son of Andreas Petrus Hecker . From 1770 to 1780 he was a preacher at the Marienkirche and director of the secondary school in Stargard in Pomerania. In 1780 he came to Berlin as an inspector and second preacher at the Trinity Church . In 1784 he became the director of the secondary school founded by his uncle Johann Julius Hecker in Kochstrasse. He refused the requested waiver of the office of preacher, since the school fund could not pay an independent salary for a director. In 1792 he was appointed pastor at the Trinity Church and senior consistorial council. He became a senior school councilor in 1794. As a schoolboy, he then concentrated very intensively on improving the educational institution and in 1797, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the royal secondary school, received permission from the king , Friedrich, to convert the school's pedagogy into a grammar school -Wilhelms-Gymnasium . The Realschule remained connected to the Gymnasium through a joint directorate. He retained his offices until his death in 1819.
