Andreas Petrus Hecker

Andreas Petrus Hecker (born November 11, 1709 in Werden ; † June 28, 1771 in Stargard in Pomerania ) was a theologian , pietist , teacher and reform pedagogue .

Life

Hecker came from a family of teachers. Like his older brother Johann Julius Hecker , he attended the Essen city school , a Lutheran grammar school whose progressive director, the polymath Johann Heinrich Zopf , inspired the two of them early on for the ideas of Halle Pietism . Andreas Petrus went to Halle (Saale) with his brother . On April 14, 1728 he began studying theology at the local university. In 1729 he became a teacher ("informator") at the Mittelwachische Schule in Halle. From 1735 to 1737 he was an informator at the pedagogy in Halle. Later he corresponded with the circle around Gotthilf August Francke .

In 1738 he began a spiritual career at the Marienkirche in Stargard as an adjunct. In 1746 he was promoted to deacon and in 1758 to archdeacon. In 1759/60, Hecker founded a secondary school in Stargard in Pomerania based on the example of his brother . It was named Vangerowsche Realschule after its private donor, Karl Friedrich Vangerow . In 1767 Andreas Petrus Hecker was pastor and provost in Stargard. Hecker was married twice, his first marriage to Dorothea Elisabeth Heidemann, b. Hildebrand († 1743) and in second marriage with Johanna Sophie Homann. The sons Andreas Jakob Hecker , Peter Johann Hecker , Gotthilf Samuel Hecker , Gottlieb Benjamin Hecker (1758–1809) and Philipp Nathanael Hecker came from the second marriage .
