the accident

The machine, loaded with 22 tons of cargo, carried out an instrument approach on runway 14 at 6:05 a.m. local time in thick fog. The air brake lever was at 45 degrees. The spoilers on the fuselage were retracted when one of the pilots noticed that the cover for the button for extending the spoilers was open contrary to the regulations. When trying to close them, the button was accidentally pressed and the flaps extended. From an altitude of 70 meters, the machine went into a steep descent from which it could no longer be intercepted.
