Siegfried Schiller

Siegfried Maria Schiller (born  February 16, 1933 in Simsdorf , Jauer district ) is a German physicist . From 1965 he acted as deputy director of the Manfred von Ardenne research institute and from 1980 as professor at the Technical University of Dresden . From 1991 he headed the newly founded Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology in Dresden .

Life

Siegfried Schiller was 1933 Gostomia in Lower Silesia born and completed after the expulsion of a degree in physics at the University of Leipzig . From 1956 he worked as a research assistant at the Manfred von Ardenne Research Institute in Dresden , where he received his doctorate from the Technical University there in 1960 . From 1965 he acted as deputy director of the institute headed by Manfred von Ardenne , and in 1980 he also received a professorship for electron beam technology at the Technical University of Dresden. After the political change in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and German reunification , he became the founding director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology , which emerged in 1991 in Dresden from working groups of the Ardenne Institute.

Siegfried Schiller, who owns over 200 patents , was a corresponding member of the GDR Academy of Sciences from 1988 . In 1965, 1977, 1981 and 1984 he received the GDR National Prize .

He worked with Manfred von Ardenne , Dr. Ullrich Heisig and Dr. Siegfried Panzer together.
