Lazaros Christodoulopoulos ( Greek Λάζαρος Χριστοδουλόπουλος ; born December 19, 1986 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek football player who is under contract with the Greek first division club Olympiacos .

Career

In the club

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, who plays in attacking midfield, began his career at the Atermon football academy before moving to the district league club AE Neapolis. In 2004 Christodoulopoulos won the attention of the Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki , where he received his first professional contract. At PAOK he played for four seasons and came there to 57 first division appearances in which he could score eight goals. Between 2008 and 2013 Christodoulopoulos was under contract with Panathinaikos Athens . He made his UEFA Champions League debut with Athens and won the Greek championship and cup in 2010.

From January 2013 to the end of June 2014 he was under contract with FC Bologna in the Italian Serie A. He did not follow the relegation of his team to the second division and moved to the first division team Hellas Verona in July 2014 . After a season in Verona and a loan period at Sampdoria Genoa , Christodoulopoulos moved to AEK Athens in the summer of 2016 . Two years later, he was signed by league rivals Olympiacos Piraeus .

In the national team

In the Greek U-21 national team Christodoulopoulos counted 15 appearances in three years, in which he could score seven goals. He made his senior national team debut on February 5, 2008 in a friendly against the Czech Republic . By 2018 he played a total of 35 games in which he was able to score. He managed to score the 1-0 winner on June 7, 2013 in the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania .
